First Trip to the Zoo

A month or so ago Brent and I decided to take Layla to the zoo for her first trip.  We went to the DC Zoo as we were more familiar with that one and knew what animals that she would get to see.  With each animal that we got to, she was so in awe..her eyes just lit up!  We have been working on animal sounds so she definitely got to put them into practice during our trip.  She seemed to really enjoy it -- especially the lions!! 

Happy Easter!

Still trying to catch up!  Layla had a great Easter this year!  She caught on to gathering her Easter eggs very quickly (we hid them in the house before she got up).  She loved finding them and then shaking them to see what was there (no candy....just goldfish!).  A little change to our Easter -- Layla didn't get any candy (trying to be a good RD mommy!!) Instead, she got hairbows, a Minnie Mouse and a movie!

Cousins at Christmas

When we go to New York, the older cousins always find Layla quite interesting and gather around to see the "new things" that she does.  Layla loves the attention that she gets.  This video shows a typical trip as everyone gathers around her!  She always has a fun time with them.  Disclaimer:  Sorry Colston -- she didn't mean to hit you in the head!

 

Christmas in New York

We spent Christmas in New York this year and forgot our camera so we took a few pictures of her opening presents with our phone.  Layla seemed to enjoy opening the presents but definitely preferred the wrapping paper!  



We also went to visit Great Grandma Shaffer on Christmas morning.  Layla was getting a little tired, but had a great time visiting with Grandma, Lynn, and Kieran.  What a great picture!

Learning to Brush Our Teeth

We've been working on learning to brush our teeth.  Layla loves to run her toothbrush under the water and "eat" the toothpaste off the toothbrush, but having a little difficulty getting her to acutally brush her teeth!!  This is good practice as she grows, though.  Every time the bathroom door is open, she thinks its time to brush her teeth.  The pictures are from the 1st time we attempted brushing our teeth!

 

 

 

 

The Many Faces of Layla

Layla's personality has really started coming out over the last few months.  She loves to laugh and make many, many different faces.  She's such as happy child!  We tried to capture a few of the MANY facial expressions that we see in a day.
