We had a great Easter at home this year. We tried taking Layla to hunt Easter eggs, but it was a total flop. I had originally tried to take her to Rolly Pollies to hunt eggs, but wasn't quick enough on the draw and they filled up too fast. We took her next door to the grocery store and I think there were more children than they expected. Layla wasn't quick to start looking for eggs, so she missed out. Her face as she looked at us with no eggs really broke our heart. We were prepared to do whatever it took to get her something so she didn't feel left out. A little girl was nice enough to come over and give her 3 of her eggs -- which Layla was fine with!
On Sunday, I had planned on fixing a meal for us and we had also planned on going to church. We made it -- 20 minutes early and it was almost packed!! Layla did really well until about 20 minutes into the service when she decided she wanted to leave -- and was not going to sit in her seat at all! I had to take her out to which she thought she could "dance" in the lobby area. Luckily, there were other people out there too with young children and I think they totally understood!
We come home to lunch and then Layla and I took a nice 2 hour nap! A great Easter!

Strike a Pose
We are SOOO in trouble! Last night after her bath, Layla insisted on putting her housecoat on to go downstairs. She walked right over to the T.V. and struck a pose -- then went to the other side. We couldn't stop laughing at how she just did this on her own. We asked her to do it again -- so we could take a picture and she happily obliged. Check out the lift of the leg!Thursday, March 7, 2013
I LOVE Ice Cream!
At dinner over the weekend, the restaurant that we visited had frozen yogurt on their kids meal. Layla was told that she could only have her "ice cream" when she finished all of her dinner. She quickly ate ALL of her chicken and then was ready for her dessert. It was so good.....she even drank the rest out of the bowl! She thought she had really gotten a treat!

Layla Van Gogh
Layla is very much like most children her age in that she enjoys coloring, drawing, and painting. Most of the time she actually manages to keep in on the paper which makes Laryessa and I very happy. Layla displays great creativity in her wardrobe selection and her drawings. She has taken lately to the whiteboard that we have in the kitchen as her canvas and proceeds to produce a masterpiece on a nightly basis. Layla, unlike most great artists, does not like to work alone and will request both Mommy and Daddy's presence as she politely requests that we draw her pictures that she then "enhances" with her own flair. Here is Layla thanking me for my contribution to her whiteboard mural.
Layla is very loving and affectionate little girl. Laryessa and I are amazed by her on a daily basis as I am sure most parents are on their little ones. We tell each other what seems like on a daily basis how lucky and blessed we are to have a healthy and happy little girl.

What Have We Been Up To?
Since Christmas, Layla and I have been just hanging around the house and enjoying some time together while its cold outside. Here is a little recap of the last few weeks!

Dressing up to go to the intern Caribbean Cruise theme meal. Layla was so excited to go -- she wanted to wear a dress to go!

Using the shoe rack as a "piano". While in KY for Christmas, Layla got to play the piano at my aunt's house and she has tried to find several things around the house to "play piano" now. Is piano playing in our future?

Dress up!!! Layla chose this outfit herself! She got the lace skirt a few months ago but just now has decided to wear it -- everyday when we are home! Once she puts it on she is a "princess".
